THINGYAN FESTIVAL (WATER FESTIVAL)

Thingyan is the Water festival which usually falls around mid-April. It is a Buddhist festival celebrated over a period of four to five days, culminating in the New Year. The dates of the festivals are calculated according to the Burmese calendar and are observed as public holidays throughout Myanmar. As Burmese new year, we pour the water each other and have fun!

THADINGYUT FESTIVAL

Thadingyut festival is the lighting festival of myanmar is held on the full moon day of the Burmese lunar month of Thadingyut. It is the second most popular festival in Myanmar after Thingyan Festival. Thadingyut festival is the celebration to welcome the Buddha's descent from the heaven after he preached the Abhidamma to his mother, who was reborn in the heaven.

THAZAUNGDINE FESTIVAL

Thazaungdine festival is like as Thadingyut festival. During this typical "Pa-O" festival, hot air balloons are released day and night. It is the festival of light held on full moon day of Thazaung mone, the 8th month of Burmses calendar. (November) 


Robe-weaving competitions are also held throughout the country, most notably in Yangon's Shwedagon Pagoda. The Buddha's mother, Maya, who had been reborn in the Tavatimsa heaven, spent the entire night weaving yellow monk robes for him. Her sister Gotami (Buddha's aunt) continued this tradition and offered new robes annually.

KASON SACRED BO TREE WATERING CEREMONY

In May, a ceremony held to commemorate the greatness of the Lord Buddha and his teachings.The activities of the festival include carrying scented water pots, chanting Pali scripts and pouring water at the bottom of the Bo tree.

PHAUNG DAW OO FESTIVAL

Four Buddha statues, on the royal barge, are ceremonially transported clockwise around the lake by leg rowers.Races are held throughout the event.

MANUHA FESTIVAL

Usually Manuha Pagoda Festival is celebrated between 27th and 28th September and the Holy Man festival on the 30th, allowing pilgrims from Yangon and Mandalay to visit both Festivals during this Period.
