ABOUT MYANMAR
Myanmar, officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, also known as Burma, located in the Southeast Asia. Myanmar is bordered by India & Bangladesh to its west, Thailand and Laos to it’s east, and China to its north and northeast. Myanmar has been a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) since 1997.

Dynamic History
Myanmar became an independent state in 1948, after gaining its sovereignty from The United Kingdom. This country under military rule that have experienced over 50 years of political oppression, then opened up again in 2011. Due to the closed economy, the historical buildings well-conserved and the people are still in its purest stage, which you can experience a totally different living style, with respect care and interest.

Dynamic Religions
Myanmar is a multi-religious country. The majority of religion in Myanmar is Buddhism (~90%), where there are a lot of Buddhism temples, which are unique in Myanmar. Yet, there are still many different religions in the community, including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Muslim etc. The mixed religions create a diverse experience in lifestyle. You can live as a local and feel the peaceful mind within people.

AIESEC in Myanmar has been established since 2014. We, with 70+ affiliated members, have 3 local chapters in Yangon Region and 1 expansion in Mandalay. Being into our 4th year, we keep striving to provide diverse and high quality exchange experience to foreigners, in order to develop their leadership skills, create direct impact to a just-opened-up country, as well as promoting Myanmar. Through our effort, we aims to create more entrepreneurial young leaders to be the change agent of the society.
